Toxic Chemicals That Are In So Many Cosmetics…Scary...

I have to say that I was shocked with how unregulated this market is.  60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our bodies.  Ick!

The icky list, 60% absorbed:

Dea (Diethanolamide), Mea (Monoethanolamine) and Tea (Triethanolamine)
Dioxin
DMDM Hydantoin & Urea (Imidazolidinyl)
Ethoxylated surfactants and 1,4 dioxane
FD&C Color & Pigments
Formaldehyde
Fragrance/Parfum
Hydroquinone
Lead
Mercury
Oxybenzone
Parabens (Methyl, Butyl, Ethyl and Propyl)
Paraphenylenediamine (PPD)
PEG (Polyethylene glycol)
Phthalates
Placental Extracts
Polyethylene glycol (PEG)

It's crazy to hear how bad these chemicals are and I'm sure we all have put them on our bodies at one time or another. I don't think it's something many people think about, but it really is eye opening to learn a bit about how these agents can impair our bodies.

On a lighter note...have you ever thought about doing a video about the way you have your makeup organized and/or stored? I think that would be very interesting! Also, I'm not sure if you've done this or not, but what products you pack when you are going to travel. Thank you Megan!

I did a video for my makeup collection a while back...sort of explains how it's stored...though I change it up a lot so should probably do a new video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAQv-8fKfN4
I like the idea of a travel one!!! Especially for summer! In fact, I meet do a beach makeup one sooner rather than later (in the same vein).
These chemicals shock me! Ick!!!

Thank you! I'm not sure how I missed those! I like seeing what other people have and I have many things that you do.

I don't like to spend a lot on storage. I use a letter organizer for a desk for my makeup. Sounds weird but it works really well for me! Next to that I have one bin kind of like your plastic ones for things I don't use as much and on top of that I have a couple larger palettes and a basket I got for $1. In another room I have a plastic drawer thing where I put samples and makeup I haven't used yet, and second drawer has sunscreen and skin care things. Like you said, as long as you know where everything is, that's what's important. Thank you for sharing that. Your bathroom is lovely! :)

Thanks! Sometimes I feel like my bathroom is a mini Sephora! I don't like to spend on storage either...and I sometimes get super interested in a category and move everything around so I can see only those items. It's all fun!!!
